On of the most exciting chapters in the whole of Bible is John 17, Jesus’ High Priestly Prayer. Jesus, as His last words to the disciples before crucification, chooses to pray to the Father in front of them. Here He gives us a glimpse into the beauty of the Godhead and shares the eternal purpose that God has purposed within Himself.
My vision is the same as the one the Father had given to Jesus. To glorify the Father God (John 17:1). This is what is burning on my heart, He must have the glory! Now, Jesus explained to us that He gives glory to the Father by giving others eternal life (John 17:2). For me that is a thought almost too lofty to think about, that I could have an eternal impact on somebody else’s life! And it gets even better – “And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.” John 17:3. In short Jesus says that He was sent to change people’s lives forever by giving them knowledge of God. This is the very thing He repeats in the last sentence of the prayer (John 17:26) – that He indeed has made know to us the Father and He will continue to do so. And He also explains the importance of doing so – the knowledge of the Father will cause us to love with the same kind of love that the Father Himself loves which will bring us into a complete unity with Jesus. Unbelievable!
This is my vision. To seek the knowledge of the Father together with you, that we may have true love and fulfill not only the First and Second Commandment (Mark 12:29-31), the New Commandment (John 13:34) or the whole Law and the Prophets (Matthew 22:40, Galatians 5:14), but also the desire that is in God’s heart to become altogether love just as He is love (John 17:24).
To be the answer to the Lord’s Prayer and bring heaven on earth (Matthew 6:10). Jesus revealed that heaven is all about knowing the Father and Himself (John 17:3) and that through the Holy Spirit (John 16:15). I want to help and encourage people to know and pursue the knowledge of the LORD.
Heavenly Father, in the name of Your Son Jesus I bless every visitor on this website. I ask that a divine fire would be kindled in their hearts by the Holy Spirit as they discover You, the eternally blessed God. Manifest Your love and power in all of their lives. I pray for lasting fruit and gentle pruning to be done. Amen
